kay once set out to make a milk jug—an ode to their childhood in ontario. somewhere along the way, it became a tree trunk.

this perfectly represents their approach to both ceramics and life, to allow things to take shape as they will and embrace the changes when things inevitably derail. 

and, it is for this reason that they will never take custom orders.

the things kay makes come from the questions, challenges, and moments of curiosity that come with the easy and the hard things, testing possibilities, and sometimes even functional use. their creations are inspired by the textures and natural beauty that we walk past every day. 

life is hard. 

it’s full of rules, instructions, expectations, and, at times, a thousand barriers that tell us being different is wrong or impossible.

for them, making things with clay is the place without all of that.

kay is a community-taught artist, bringing no formal ceramics education to this game. they’ve learned from studios, social media, other artists, friends, and so, so, so much trial and error.
