Katie Trafford (KTT) is a Calgary-based painter whose work explores memory, emotion, and the quiet complexities of the human experience. After an earlier career in finance, she discovered that painting offered a more meaningful way to understand herself and the world around her. For more than a decade, art has been at the centre of her life and creative practice.

Largely self-taught, Katie's development has been shaped by the guidance of generous mentors who encouraged her to trust the creative process, embrace uncertainty, and let go of perfection. That spirit of curiosity continues to define her work today.

Her paintings often move between tenderness and sorrow, restraint and quiet humour, drawing on themes of impermanence, personal reflection, and shared human experience. Rather than seeking definitive answers, Katie paints to explore, discover, and remain open to what unfolds.
