Tansi/Oki/Hello! My spirit name is White Thunderbird Woman, and my given name is Tayler Schenkeveld. I am a Métis artist and Registered Provisional Psychologist living and working in Treaty 7 territory in Mohkinstsis (Calgary, AB). My artwork features modern and minimalistic representations of traditional Indigenous teachings, stories, and concepts. I wish to honour the lineage and knowledge I come from, and make it accessible in contemporary visual language, so that whoever engages with the work may both see where I come from and feel the resonance of these teachings in their own way.
